SendSafely can re-map a user account when an employee’s email address changes (for example, due to a last name change). Email re-mapping updates the user’s SendSafely account so they can continue accessing existing content using their new email address.
Important: SendSafely cannot merge two accounts together. Email re-mapping moves an existing account to a new email address, but it does not combine data from two accounts.
What You Need to Provide
To request an email re-map, SendSafely requires a portal admin submit a SendSafely secure message to support@sendsafely.com containing:
The user’s original email address
The user’s new email address
Email re-mapping requires that the new email address is not already assigned to an active SendSafely account.
If a SendSafely account already exists for the new email address:
That account must be deactivated first
If you need help deactivating it, include that request in the secure message
Any data sent or received prior to deactivation will no longer be available
What Happens After the Re-Map
Once Support completes the re-map, the user should log out and log back in to any SendSafely plugins, including:
Chrome Extension
Outlook Plug-in
Outlook Add-In
Logging out and back in ensures that new packages sent after the change show as coming from the user’s new email address.
Account Merging Is Not Supported
SendSafely is unable to merge two accounts into one. If two separate SendSafely accounts exist, they must remain separate, and re-mapping can only be performed if the destination email is not currently in use.
Bulk Email Re-Mapping for Domain Changes
If your organization’s email domain has changed (for example, @oldcompany.com → @newcompany.com), SendSafely supports a bulk re-map process. To learn more, contact: support@sendsafely.com
